Devlog #3: Player Details, Backgrounds, and Mob Spawning


Hey everyone, I am excited to share another dense week of updates for Pixel Odyssey!

New Features

  • Enhanced Minimap: Player and portals now display on the minimap, making navigation easier.
  • Debugging Tools: Added debug GUI windows showing FPS and real-time player position for better performance tracking.
  • Player Experience Bar: Visually track your character's experience progression.
  • Player Details Window: View your player's detailed stats, including level and health.
  • Map Backgrounds: Support for map backgrounds to help improve the visual experience.
  • Mob Spawning: Spawn zones have been created, allowing basic mob spawning.

Coming Next

  • Basic Mob Movement: Mobs will soon move around.
  • Mob-Player Damage: Begin a combat system where mobs will damage players when they collide.
  • Player Health Updates: Have the UI update when damage is taken.
  • Client Event System: Infrastructure for an event system to allow the server to send the client details on which events have taken place.
  • Damage Indicators: Implementing the first event. Damage numbers will display above players when hit, providing instant combat feedback.
